BOY!

I had my big ultrasound today and there is no doubt we're having a boy. Unfortunately, this kid has not sat still for about a week, it feels like, so we weren't able to get any really nice profile or face pictures or anything that looked really recognizable. As soon as something would come into view he would move and it would be gone before the tech could capture it. But he was not shy about showing off his stuff and there was no mistaking it.

Oh and they also moved my EDD again...now I'm officially due 3/31.  The earlier they want to certify me, the sooner I can quit working, so that's cool with me!

We always knew we would name a boy John the fifth, since we weren't going to mess with a tradition that longstanding, but now I'm thinking we'll have to figure out what we're really going to call our son to distinguish him from John...we already have a Little John in our lives and that's who we think of when we say Johnny too, so for now I'm calling him Juanito :-)

Yay for boys! Hey, didn't your psychic mother in law also tell you that you were having a boy?

Sure enough! She kept all the stuff unisex that she bought us so far though.

Nice new icon! The best picture I got is of the legs and feet on their own. I did get a cute one of the bottoms of the feet too, but I kind of wanted some upper body ones that looked like something. But as the ultrasound tech said, c'est la vie!

The bottoms of the little feet are so cute :) At least you must have caught a glimpse of the nether regions, too. I have a nice close up of genitals in my ultrasound collection.

Oh yeah, I was able to clearly see penis before the ultrasound tech gave us her official opinion.

awwww, yay! Juanito is cute. :)
There is a history of Johns in my family too. John Henry Pilkingtons... to distinguish my grandfather from my great-grandfather, they called my grandfather Jack.

I had not thought of Jack, but I REALLY like it! See, John never had that problem with his dad because his dad is not John III, his name is Gary. John III is his uncle, who was killed by a drunk driver when he was 19, so his dad named his firstborn after him to keep the tradition going.

My hubby and I were thinking about the name Jack when we were jokingly talking about naming all our kids after cheeses :)

Hee hee! Those conversations are fun! I remember when we were talking about girl names we just started suggesting words rather than real names and John said, "How about Brochure...or something else French."
